About This Content The ‘ugly duckling’ of Southern steam is now here for Train Simulator, brought to you by Victory Works.World War II halted production of steam locomotives in the UK, but a large increase in goods traffic across the country forced a shortage of suitable motive power for the Southern Railway. The dated Q Class was seen as an obvious, but the SR’s Chief Mechanical Engineer, Oliver Bulleid, decided a new class of 0-6-0 steam locomotives was a much better replacement, using minimal resources due to wartime austerity and to reduce weight.Built by SR’s Brighton and Ashford Works, the Q1 Class’ unique design saw it labelled with some less than favourable nicknames, however its lightweight construction meant it could operate across the majority of the Southern network, and it was even used occasionally on passenger services. The Q1 Class adequately met the Southern Railway’s wartime requirements and many of the Class continued into the post-war BR era, working over the Southern Region until the end of steam in the mid-1960s.All but one of the Class were scrapped; the first locomotive built in the Class was preserved and ran until 2004 at the Bluebell Railway in West Sussex. It can now be seen on static display at the National Railway Museum in York, England. The Bulleid Q1 Class for Train Simulator is available in Southern and BR liveries, with pre- and post-1956 BR logos. Extensive detailing of the model includes three driving modes, dynamic numbering including optional fittings for all members of the class, multiple cab views, fully modelled and animated Stephenson’s Gear, realistic wheel slip physic and effects, cylinder cock management, realistic injector control, fully controllable steam sander, working tender controls and dynamic head disc/lamp settings. Also included are a selection of World War II era wagons, including SR single conflats with containers, SR double conflats with loads including Spitfire fuselage, gun barrels, tree trunks and planks, Howitzer Railgun and SR Warwell with Cromwell tank. The locomotive is also Quick Drive compatible, giving you the freedom to drive the Bulleid Q1 Class on any Quick Drive enabled route for Train Simulator, such as those available through Steam. Also included are scenarios specifically for the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway route (available separately and required to play these scenarios).ScenariosSix scenarios for the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway route with a World War II era theme:A Proper CharlieDanger from AboveSetting Things StraightCoal in the Coffee PotThe Ugly DucklingBulleid SunsetMore scenarios are available on Steam Workshop online and in-game. Not only can it pull twice the load of the 4f, but it has amazing animation and sound features! I would recommend it to anyone who likes plain yet strong engines. The engine is well designed and looks great, if you're struggling up a hill and open the regulator all the way sparks come out of the stack. It's worth the money.. Lovely addon of a war engine. Lots of cool features, and I love the rolling stock that's included. The career mode is absolutely challenging, and has some neat effects going on. My only gripes are the model of the Southern varient from within the cab has a bit more removed from the front end which becomes apparent quickly with a TrackIR, and the cabs are quite dark. Other than that, highly recommended.. Nice engine. The wheelslip sparks are a nice touch. Worth to buy during a sale.. CRAP! DO NO BUY... In the process of sending numerous emails to DTG none of the scenarios can be completed. Full of bugs. Phhysics are knackered. If you save a game and go back, the thing goes LOOPY. Including self derailing! Save yourself some money STAY AWAY. To think this got released in 2014, yet they've still not fixed the problem. I'll hound them on socail media until they either give. OR GO BUST!. Steam generation and boiler physics must be fixed to be worth parting with any money. Model nicely put together and acb visuals good. Wheelslip not present.. I have... a lot, of DLC for this game, to say the least, and the Bullied Class Q1 is by far my favorite.First off, it's fairly toaster-friendly which is a huge plus on my slow as dirt laptop, and it manages to be very detailed at the same time.Second, if you're a huge fan of the actual Q1 as I am, this is about as picture-perfect of a model for it as you're gonna get, right down to the visible internals between the boiler and the wheelbase. The wheel-slip is simulated well, and the scenarios that it comes with range from sort of hard to brutally hard, so they'll keep you busy for a while. Admittedly I'm not the *world's* most experienced virtual driver but I had trouble with them at least. Now it's no secret that TS2015 DLC is stupidly overpriced, and I got this on sale for ten bucks and feel I got my money's worth on it. If you really like the Class Q1 in all its utilitarian glory, I could see someone dropping twenty for it and not feeling too ripped off, but as with just about everything in this game unless money isn't an object for you it's a better deal on sale. That all said, if you're on the fence about this one, absolutely get it. It's a blast to quick drive and I've certainly gotten my money's worth out of it. Easily one of the best DLC's for TS2015, and one of the few I can honestly give a 10\/10 to. There just isn't anything not to like.
